Crypto Spot Market Historical Data: Trades and Order Books for Every Spot Pair
Spot is where price discovery for the long tail happens: 14,151 spot pairs across 23 venues, from BTC/USDT on Binance to the newest listing on a mid-tier exchange, each recorded as the complete feed — every trade and every order-book update, October 2021 – September 2026. In the 30 days to 2026-09-16 the spot books recorded $842.9B of USD turnover over 3.2B trades.
Crypto Spot Historical Data — Trades & Books
A spot day file holds the trade tape (type 2) and the full Level-2 evolution (types 0 and 1) of one pair, plus the best-bid/ask stream where the venue publishes one (type 6). Quote currencies vary by venue — USDT, USDC, USD, EUR, BTC and others — and every pair is its own instrument, so the same coin on the same exchange in two quotes is two files with their own books.
Spot books behave differently from perpetual books: no funding, no liquidation cascades, but thinner depth on the long tail and cross-venue price dislocations that only show up with synchronized timestamps. The cross-venue analyzer compares the same pair across exchanges from the archive; the tick files let you measure the arbitrage that actually existed, tick by tick.
Venues with a separate BBO stream export top-of-book flat (?format=bbo.csv.gz); BitMEX, Coinbase, Kraken spot, Kalshi, Polymarket record depth only and the free reader derives the top of book by replay. Coverage per venue is on the exchange pages, per coin on the asset pages.

Message types behind spot markets data
| Type | Message | What it carries |
|---|---|---|
0 | Order-book snapshot | Full Level-2 state; a new snapshot resets the book |
1 | Order-book update | Incremental L2 change per price level (quantity 0 removes the level) |
2 | Trades | Every print with aggressor side, price, size, trade id and exchange timestamp |
6 | Top-of-book (BBO) | Best bid/ask stream where the venue publishes one (not on BitMEX, Coinbase, Kraken spot, Kalshi, Polymarket) |
How to download spot markets data
- Pick the pair: search the Data Shop by symbol (BTCUSDT, ETH-USD …), or start from a coin on the asset pages to see every venue and quote that carries it.
- Try a free day first: the full-day samples on the downloads page are the exact shop files, no account needed — parse one before you buy a month.
- Pick the UTC days in the instrument's calendar and check out — card with invoice, or Premium and pack credits (1 credit = €1 = one instrument-day). Many instruments at once: "Select to buy" in the instrument scanner adds a shared date window.
- Export:
?format=trades.csv.gz/.parquetfor the tape on any day,?format=bbo.csv.gzon venues with a BBO stream, or the free reader for the order-book grid and locally aggregated OHLCV. - Download from the order page (single files), your account (batch ZIP of everything you own) or scripted via the MCP server and the Agent Skill. Days in deep archive restore in about 12 hours.

Spot markets data — FAQ
Which spot exchanges are covered?
Binance spot, Coinbase, Kraken spot, Bybit, OKX, KuCoin, Gate, Bitget, Bitfinex, Crypto.com, MEXC, BingX, Bitmart, WhiteBIT, HTX and more — the exchange pages show per venue how many spot pairs are recorded and since when, and the asset pages show which venues carry a given coin.
Does the spot data include the order book or only trades?
Both, in the same file: every trade print and the full Level-2 order-book history (initial snapshot plus every incremental update) with nanosecond timestamps, and the best-bid/ask stream where the venue publishes one. BitMEX, Coinbase, Kraken spot, Kalshi, Polymarket record depth only — top of book is derived by replay there.
Can I get historical data for a small-cap spot pair?
Usually yes — the archive records every pair a covered venue lists, not a curated top-100, so long-tail pairs are sold per day like BTC/USDT. Check the pair's calendar in the shop: a recently listed pair has files from its listing day onward, and delisted pairs keep their recorded history.
Are stablecoin quotes (USDT, USDC) and fiat quotes (USD, EUR) separate?
Yes — every quote is a separate instrument with its own trades and book, so BTC/USDT and BTC/USDC on the same venue are two files. The asset pages list the quote currencies each coin trades in per exchange, and the cross-venue analyzer aligns the same pair across venues.
How do spot files differ from perpetual files?
Spot files carry trades, the Level-2 book and (where published) BBO. Perpetual files add funding, mark/index prices and liquidation events. Everything else — schema, timestamps, per-instrument-day pricing, exports — is identical, so a spot-vs-perp basis study reads both with the same code.
How much spot markets trading does the archive record per day?
About $28.1B of USD turnover and 108.0M trades per UTC day across 23 venues in the 30 days to 2026-09-16, and $13.0T over the last 365 days. Every figure is a sum over the tick-by-tick trade prints in the spot markets files, so the per-instrument downloads reproduce it exactly.
Which exchange has the most spot markets volume in the archive?
1. Binance Spot ($305.7B), 2. Okx ($63.2B), 3. Coinbase ($60.4B) — together 51 % of the $842.9B recorded for spot markets in the 30 days to 2026-09-16, out of 14,151 recorded instruments on 23 venues. The ranking is computed from our own trade captures.
