Perpetual swaps

Perpetual funding intervals by exchange

How often perpetual swaps settle funding on each venue — counted from the instrument master data every exchange publishes, for every open perpetual we record. Venues mix intervals: 8-hour and 4-hour settlement dominate on most venues, and several settle every contract hourly.

Open perpetual contracts per venue by their currently published funding interval (exchange master data, synced hourly). Venues that do not publish the field are not listed. Exchanges change intervals per contract — check the venue before trading.

Background

Funding intervals in the recorded data

The funding interval is part of each instrument's published rules, next to tick size and lot size, and exchanges change it per contract — often shortening it when a market gets volatile. The table counts the open perpetuals of each venue by their current interval; a venue that does not publish the field is left out rather than guessed.

Every funding-rate update is recorded in the perpetual day files (message type 9), so the full funding history of a contract replays from the archive — see futures & perpetuals data.

How to

How to download funding-rate history

  1. Find the contract: open the Data Shop or a trading-pair page — the instrument-specifications table shows each perpetual's current funding interval.
  2. Pick the UTC days you need. A perpetual day file carries every funding-rate update alongside trades, the full-depth book, mark and index prices.
  3. Check out — €1 per instrument-day, no subscription, no minimum, no account needed.
  4. Read message type 9 with the free Python reader to rebuild the funding series, or join it to trades for carry and basis research.
Why CryptoStruct

Why buy perpetual funding data here

Four things every page on this site is built on — and the reason the numbers above exist at all.

We record everything

The complete public feed of each venue as it was published: every Level-2 snapshot and update at the venue's full book depth, every trade with its aggressor side, every quote, funding, mark-price and liquidation event — for every instrument the venue lists, every UTC day since we added the venue. Nothing sampled, no top-N cut, no on-demand capture.

Institutional grade

Captured co-located at the venue with the exchange timestamp and our receive timestamp in integer nanoseconds, an event-id chain that makes any gap visible, and one normalized schema across 35+ venues — the same capture our own high-frequency trading engine and enterprise feeds run on.

€1 per instrument-day

Any instrument-day is €1, series-day bundles start at €1 — no subscription, no minimum order, no tiers to unlock. Credit packs lower the effective price and never expire, and every venue has free full-day samples to test against first.

Self-service for everyone

Pick the days in the Data Shop, pay by card as a guest and download immediately — no sales call, no enterprise contract, no KYC. Coding agents buy the same files through the MCP server, and the free Agent Skill teaches them the format.

FAQ

Funding intervals — FAQ

Which funding interval is most common on crypto perpetuals?

Of the 8,386 open perpetual contracts with a published interval across 19 recorded venues, 1,171 settle every 1 h, 3,382 settle every 4 h, 3,833 settle every 8 h. Venues that settle every listed contract hourly: crypto.com, Hyperliquid, Kraken Futures, Coinbase International. Exchanges change intervals per contract — the table on this page shows the current split per venue.

What is a funding interval?

The time between two funding settlements of a perpetual swap — the moment longs and shorts exchange the funding payment that keeps the contract near its index. Common intervals are 8 hours, 4 hours and 1 hour; the exchange sets it per contract and can change it.

Is the funding-rate history part of the data?

Yes. Every funding-rate update the venue publishes is recorded in the perpetual's day file (message type 9) with nanosecond timestamps, alongside mark and index prices — so the complete funding history of a contract can be rebuilt from the archive.

How much does perpetual funding data cost?

€1 per perpetual instrument-day — no subscription, no minimum order, no account needed: buy as a guest, download instantly, or use credit packs that never expire. Free full-day samples first on the downloads page; details on pricing.
